FAQ
What makes my service unique is that I provide a premium service for Sydney family photography, including wardrobe consultation via email or phone prior to the session. I also like to work together to select the perfect photo shoot location, either in Ryde, lower or upper North Shore, Gladesville, Homebush and Northern beaches.
If taking family or couples photos. it is very important the outfits fit and vibe together as a whole. This means a few things. Think harmonious colours that fit together and look appealing. The best way to plan outfits is to lay all the outfits being worn for the photoshoot by all family members on a bed and take a look at them. Is there harmony or are there loud patterns or colours stealing the show? My service extends to wardrobe consultation as I like to ensure everything is perfect for our planned day. If you take a photo of the outfits on a bed or a table, I would be happy to advise if any improvements are needed.
Normally I like to get to know you as well as your children by some light banter, which generally relaxes everyone. My approach is very natural, no forced poses. I would like to capture your family interacting together as you normally would even if I wasn’t watching. Once you feel comfortable with me and the process, it unfolds naturally. I am also very patient with children as I am a mother of 2 myself and children can sense my internal calm.
Easily the best time to have family photos or lifestyle shots taken is called golden hour, which is 1 hour prior to sunset. This is when the sun is the softest and will be less intrusive for everyone’s eyes. This means everyone will look their best without squinting. However if there is a reason to have the photo shoot at a different time to suit availability, I will work with you to select the best location to ensure the sun works like a paid actor in our shots.
Colour combinations which work particularly well are: light blue, sand & white. Example Mum could wear a blue dress, daughter a white dress and Dad could be in sand pants with a white shirt.
Generally speaking, soft muted colours work well: think blue jeans with white/beige/cream shirts or tops, or if you would like to throw in some black, make sure someone else is also wearing an item of black such as a belt or shoes etc. Soft pinks, soft greens also work well.
Yes offer in home sessions because sometimes that is all there is time for. Or you may have a relative who is unable to travel to a different location. I will work with you to ensure we can utilise an area of the home with the best light and background. I will also bring along lighting with me to ensure we capture your moments perfectly.
